From Tina Connolly’s story, One Ear Back, in which our human protagonist finally becomes human, after many years in the body of a cat.
I feel strangely hollow these days. Lost between worlds; I can’t curl up with my pack of cats, nor can I feel at ease with these large-souled humans. Osvif and Ingy overflow with generosity to me. But I seem to have used up my humanity in my quest to become one.
Ridiculous longings! The dreams of a kitten. I knew where my soul was, once. It fit right between the ears, in a little fuzzy body.
Once I had a right-sized soul, the soul of a cat.

I alone feel this torment. The white idiot writhes on his chair, begging for cheeseburgers. I’m surrounded by morons.

Incredible story of a rescued spotted eagle owl posted to The Owl Pages. After recovering from his injuries, he continues visiting his rescuers, attempting to feed their cat and care for other injured owls and a crow.
He’s been a great help to one young owl with two broken legs and a damaged wing and an adorable owlet (sadly, they won’t allow me to link to the pic-but I strongly encourage you to visit the site).
Check out the fabulous gift he presents to one of his saviors about four inches from her head, while she’s asleep.
