I like Sarah Susanka’s books on small homes. By small, she means “not as big as you thought you needed”. She also writes about new urbanism, sustainability and preservation.

Some of my crazy Canadian pioneering relatives.
Some great genealogical and historical info. Eh… nutty music alert.
Here’s hoping Zach wins Oprah’s search for a new TV show host.
I’ve moved to tumblr. It’s free and really easy to use.
If you haven’t slept much the night before, a yoga class can make things right. Or… much better, anyway. I highly recommend these streaming yoga classes.
Incredible procedure results in prosthetic limbs with bone and skin growing into the implant. But wait, that’s not all! The implant works like a see-saw at the bottom of the limbs, resulting in a fairly normal gait. The cat, Oscar, was not only walking right after surgery, but climbing and even jumping!

The always amazing Norm Sherman reports on an art piece called, Victimless Leather, which was on display at New York’s MoMA. It was an actual living jacket (yes, alive) created from mouse embryonic stem cells, fed nutrients through tubes.
Mr Sherman created a beautiful musical tribute styled after Little Shop of Horrors. Remember the dentist song?
When I was younger, just an awkward little kid.
My mama noticed silly things that I did.
I painted nipples on my younger brother’s knees.
Filled up the bathtub with vaseline and blue cheese.
I’d swallow goldfish and defecate in the shed.
That’s when my mama said,
What did she say?
She said, “My boy, I think some day…
You’ll find a way…
To make your natural tendencies pay!”
You’ll be an artist.
You’ll be an artist.
You have a talent for senseless dementia.
Son, be an artist.
Son, be an artist.
People will pay you to paint on placentas.
Your temperament’s wrong for the priesthood.
Marines would never let you wear that dress!
Son, be an artist
You’ll be a success!
